DG Research & Innovation will organise an information event on financial and business opportunities for R&I beyond Horizon Europe, which can support the market uptake of new technologies and systems in the areas of energy, mobility, transport. The aim is to boost the development of alternative energy solutions.

The agenda includes different presentations from the Innovation Fund, European Investment Bank, the Connecting Europe Facility, and the European Innovation Council, followed by a Q&A closing part.

This is a valuable learning opportunity about how to bring forward innovative solutions, and to network with projects and companies in the same area.

Pooling research and innovation initiatives, strategic agenda and opportunities for safe, efficient and cost competitive technologies towards 2030 and beyond

The SET Plan is under a revamping process to shape a renewed strategy for clean energy research and innovation in Europe.
Co-organized by ETIP Bioenergy and several EU Projects, the event will discuss the role of bioenergy and renewable fuels in the revamping of the SET Plan, with a preview of the updated Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) edited by ETIP Bioenergy. Three tematic sessions will be led by different Horizon R&I projects presenting their outcomes and discussing their synergies and contribution to the objectives of the SET Plan Action 8 (Renewable Fuels and Bioenergy).

We are excited to announce our upcoming work that will explore the future of bioenergy and biofuels until 2050. In the framework of the ETIP Bioenergy support project, RISE will be conducting interviews and workshops that focus on the impact of three different future scenarios on identified value chains within the bioenergy and biofuels industry.

A workshop will take place on Wednesday 7 June at the EUBCE.

If you would like to have a chat with us or join the EUBCE workshop, please reach out to johan.granberg@ri.se.

We look forward to sharing our findings in the coming months!

ReFuelEU aviation initiative:
Council and Parliament agree to decarbonise the aviation sector

Last 25 April, the Parliament and the Council of the EU agreed on the percentage of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) that must be blended with kerosene. The target goes from 2% by 2025 to 70% by 2050.

According to the agreement, the feedstocks used to produce SAFs will include a wider range of biofuels incorporated into SAF production, as certified biofuels complying with the Renewable Energy Directive sustainability and emissions saving criteria.

Those specifically excluded are: biofuels from intermediate crops, palm fatty acid distillate (PFAD), and palm and soy-derived materials, in addition to biofuels from food and feed crops.
