The 12th Stakeholder Plenary Meeting (SPM12) of the ETIP Bioenergy is just around the corner! We're excited to connect with you on March 12th in Brussels for a day packed with insightful discussions and networking opportunities. SPM12 will address some of the most pressing issues facing the bioenergy sector. Here's a glimpse of what awaits you:

  • Scaling Up Renewable Transport Fuels: Our industry panel will tackle the crucial question of scaling up renewable transport fuels. We'll explore the readiness of the sector, the remaining barriers to biofuel deployment, and the valuable lessons learned from past and ongoing industry and demonstration projects. This is a must-attend session for anyone involved in the future of transport.
  • Research & Innovation Highlights: Gain valuable insights from Horizon Europe projects focusing on the economic and environmental dimensions of bioenergy and renewable fuels. Sustainable biomass heating for low-emission zones in Sofia

Sofia's Low Emission Zone (LEZ) initiative is a proactive step towards improving air quality and public health through the modernisation of heating systems, promoting sustainable use of bioenergy for heating purposes and sustainable urban policies. The initiative was the focus of the roundtable discussion "More Comfort for Cleaner Air", held on 25 November at SOHO conference center in Sofia, Bulgaria. Organised by the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) and the Center for Energy Efficiency EnEffect, the event was endorsed by the ETIP Bioenergy Platform and the global Breathe Cities initiative under the Clean Air Fund.

ETIP Bioenergy welcomes two new co-chairs in Working Groups 1 and 4 

ETIP Bioenergy is happy to welcome 2 new co-chairs in its Working Groups. Robert Prinz joins Working Group 1 - biomass availabilty. He is a Senior Scientist at the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) within the group Forest Technology and Wood Material Solutions and  mainly does research on biomass supply chains, forest technology and forest bioenergy related topics. Rainer Jannsen is now co-chair of Working Group 4 - Policy and Sustainability. He is Managing Director Projects and Consulting at WIP Renewable Energies and Senior Expert in innovative bioenergy and bioeconomy solutions, renewable energies and sustainable energy systems. ETIP Bioenergy expresses its gratitude to outgoing co-chairs Lauri Sikanen and Marc Londo for their dedicated service.
