Specialists in refining crude oil to produce high-grade transport fuels and special-purpose products with a product range including gasolines, diesel oils, light and heavy fuel oils, aviation fuels, gasoline components, base oils, lubricants, solvents and special purpose liquid fuels. Also manufactures and develops biofuels and bio-components for the rapidly growing renewable fuels market. Produces the bioethanol based gasoline component ETBE in Finland and Portugal. Operates commercial scale plants for production of renewable diesel (HVO/HEFA), using vegetable oil and waste oils as a feedstock (Finland, Rotterdam and Singapore). Operated a BtL demonstration plant at Stora Enso’s Varkaus Mill in Finland. Has carried out pioneering work with Lufthansa on aviation biofuels. Is part of the ERA-NET+ BESTF project KANE on demonstration of microbial oil production. Operates the Neste Oil sustainability verfifiation system, approved by the EC.
