Munich, Germany
WIP Renewable Energies, founded in 1968, has 40 years experience in renewable energies. Its mission is to bridge the gap between research and implementation of renewable energy systems. WIP coordinates, manages and implements national, European and international research, demonstration, and dissemination projects. In the biofuels field, WIP is currently coordinating, among others, the COMPETE network (FP6) which stimulates sustainable bioenergy use in Africa by establishing a dialogue platform for knowledge exchange. Furthermore, WIP coordinates the BioTop project (FP7) on biofuel research cooperation between Europe and Latin America and the Global-Bio-Pact project (FP7) which assesses socioeconomic impacts of biofuel and bioproduct supply chains. In the framework of the BEST project (FP6) WIP demonstrates the use of ethanol vehicles in Europe and Brazil. Within the SWEETFUEL project (FP7), WIP contributes to sustainability assessments of supply chains for newly developed sweet sorghum varieties. Finally, WIP is involved in the set-up of a lignocellulosic ethanol demonstration plant in Italy, in the frame of the BIOLYFE project (FP7).
